When an organisation changes, people have to change. No-one likes changing the way they do things and while it’s hard to change your own behaviour, it’s often even harder to get others to change theirs. To make things worse, one change is often not complete before the next one is on its way.
If organisations are to change successfully, people must go through the personal transitions that enable them to change their behaviour. If transitions do not occur, change will not work and when the dust finally settles, nothing much will be different.

In spite of their great efforts - restructuring, turnarounds, culture and technology change – change often fails in organisations because people never come to terms with the new situation. Instead, they respond to the pressure to change with anxiety, frustration and fear. They drag their feet, mutter and keep their heads and their eyes down. The planned transformation is sabotaged.
This two day Straight Talk workshop gives people an understanding of the three phases of the transition process, and practical tools for working through their personal transitions. It also helps managers and others deal with the communication problems, performance and motivational issues that accompany change.
During change and transition good communication is important and requires skill so that problems can be resolved and things can move along. Communication skills are necessary so people can speak up with their concerns and hold others to account for inappropriate behaviour. Without these skills, conversations like the ones below are ignored, delayed or handled badly.
- Making a conversation safe so you get to hear the fears and anxieties of others about planned changes
- Gaining the commitment, not merely compliance, from others
- Making a conversation safe so you can voice your own concerns or disagreement with a planned course of action
- Confronting someone with the implications of their behaviour and holding them to account for making a change
- Choosing the time and an appropriate approach to move to discipline when necessary.
Workshops are run in-house.
Personal Coaching is an excellent way to reinforce skills learnt in a workshop and to apply them to personal coversations and relationships. Personal coaching is also available on it's own.
